1. Differences in high-temperature resistance and weldability: Due to their chemical composition, chemical anchors have a lower melting point and reduced high-temperature resistance compared to mechanical anchors, which are made of metals with higher melting points. Consequently, mechanical anchors, with their superior high-temperature resistance, also exhibit better weldability, making them suitable for a wider range of applications.
2. Depending on the level of seismic resistance, chemical anchor bolts exhibit inferior seismic performance compared to mechanical anchor bolts. Under irregular loads such as earthquakes, mechanical anchor bolts provide superior anchoring capacity.
It can help prevent secondary disasters caused by building collapses. In China, only a small number of mechanical bolts have undergone rigorous seismic simulation tests.
3. During the construction phase, mechanical anchor bolts are made of metal and thus have few structural constraints, allowing for rapid installation. Chemical anchors, on the other hand, involve the use of chemical compounds and require time to cure, which can extend the overall project duration to some extent.
4. They are reinforced in different ways: mechanical anchors rely on a mechanical locking mechanism to secure and lock the fastener, while chemical anchors use a chemical agent to bond the screw within a drilled hole in the concrete substrate, thereby achieving anchorage.
5. The installation difficulty differs: like standard anchor bolts, mechanical anchor bolts place lower demands on installers. Chemical anchors, however, must be manually inserted, which can be challenging.
